Eat

Our kitchen team create great tasting food that utilises the best of local produce and ingredients with excellent provenance and from sources with high standards of animal welfare. It's about dishes that reflect seasonality and our stunning rural location using both classical and contemporary cooking techniques with an eye for detail.

Some might call us a gastro pub, others may say a restaurant with rooms. Take a look at our menu and decide for yourself. We try to offer a balance of tasty pub classics as well as some more refined 'fine-dining' dishes.

Head Chef: Dave Hunter

Evenings

Our à la carte dinner menu is available in the bar and oak panelled room from 6pm-8.30pm daily.

  • Evening meals are by prior reservation*
  • Children are welcome (under 8's up until 8pm)
  • Dogs are welcome in the bar (on a lead)
  • We do not serve food outdoors on evenings

*We advise guests against turning up for an evening meal without a booking. Tables are allocated for the evening (we do not relay) and the kitchen freshly prepare food according to our business levels to avoid wastage. Just because we have an empty table it does not necessarily mean we can accommodate you. Even if it is just a few hours before-hand please call in advance to book before travelling. Thank you.

FAQs

Are dogs allowed?

Yes dogs are welcome in our bar area where you will find complimentary dog treats! The majority of our bedrooms are dog friendly.

Do you have a children’s menu?

We do not have a children’s menu but can offer most of our dishes as a smaller portion. We have high chairs available if required. Children under 8 are welcome in the bar or restaurant until 8pm.

Do I need to book a table to eat?

We always recommend booking. We table reservations for both our bar & restaurant at lunch and dinner. We do not take reservations for our outside tables, these are on a first come first served basis dependent on the weather.

I’m staying with you, do I need to book a table for dinner?

If you have booked on a dinner inclusive rate then no, we will have already reserved you a table. If you have a preference over whether you are seated inn the bar or the restaurant then please let us know. Your table will be yours all evening so we normally just take a dining time form you at check in, if you have a specific time in mind though please feel free to let us know in advance.

If you are booked with us on a Bed & Breakfast only rate then we do recommend booking a table if you wish to dine with us. Both the bar and restaurant are popular and we may not be able to offer you a table if we are full.

Is the pub wheelchair accessible?

The main entrance, bar and restaurant entrances are all wide enough for wheelchairs. Please be aware though that as the building is very old getting a wheelchair into the toilets is not really possible. For this reason we cannot say that the property is wheelchair accessible.

Do you have a vegetarian menu?

We do not have a seperate vegetarian menu but we do offer vegetarian dishes.

Do you have a vegan menu?

No but we can prepare vegan dishes with prior notice.

Do you cater for people with a gluten free diet?

Some of our existing dishes can be modified to be gluten free but prior notice is preferred.

Do you cater for groups?

The maximum table size that can be booked is for 8 people. We can accommodate larger groups of up to 20 for private lunches in the restaurant Monday to Friday by prior arrangement.
