Yorkshire Dales Information
Welcome to the Rose and Crown at Romaldkirk – on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and surrounded by breathtaking scenery. As Fiona Duncan of the Sunday Telegraph writes, “Everything about this place is perfect.”
Step inside and you will see the hallway is festooned with awards - testimony to the high standards of hospitality that make the Rose and Crown one of the foremost hotels in Teesdale, which, before the boundary changes was the most northerly dale in the Yorkshire Dales and now one of the Durham Dales. Food is of the essence, much of it locally sourced produce using some of the best producers in the Yorkshire Dales and County Durham, freshly cooked and beautifully presented, with a choice of dining in either the restaurant or less formally in the brasserie. Drinks can be enjoyed in the cosy bar with its open log fire or on warm days outside overlooking the village green and the surrounding Dales scenery. The beautifully furnished and cosy lounge is a quiet haven in which to relax with a cup of tea or coffee, or perhaps something stronger.
All the rooms are stylishly furnished under the careful supervision of Ali Davy, superbly comfortable and well equipped with those little touches that make a guest’s stay special – Bose sound systems, glossy magazines, luxury toiletries, fluffy towels and a copy of Come Rain or Shine, Chris and Ali Davy’s personal guide to the highlights of County Durham and the Yorkshire Dales.
Throughout the historic building contemporary styling combines with original features to create a superbly comfortable and welcoming place to stay – without a doubt a very special gem and one of the finest Durham hotels and a perfect base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and surrounding countryside.
